Three or four ordinary words work well — “kitchen table lesson” is easy to remember and already long enough. At least 12 characters, because length is what stops a stolen list of passwords being guessed.

VerbalGerbil is in beta
VerbalGerbil is in beta — an early version that gets better every week, and some things will change along the way.
Everything VerbalGerbil holds for you — students, lessons, notes, messages, invoices, payments — downloads from Account → Privacy & data whenever you want it, with nobody to ask.
The database is backed up daily and can be rolled back to any point in the last 7 days. Still — during the beta, keep your own copy of anything you can't afford to lose.
VerbalGerbil is built and run by one person — B. Miles Tharp — so you'll always be talking directly to the person who built it: no support queue, no ticket numbers. Support, privacy and legal questions all reach the same inbox: bmilestharp@gmail.com.
